On Thursday, May 1, San Juan Capistrano Friends of the Library and SJC Public Library hosted Breakthrough middle school students to a local celebration of World Book Night. This world-wide event was first celebrated in England and Ireland in 2010 to spread a love for reading and to inspire passionate readers to go out into their communities and share copies of their favorite books. Ms. Shirley Sauvageau, from the SJC Friends of the Library, did just that! Because of her vision, Breakthrough students received dozens of donated books through World Book Night.
Breakthrough students and staff enjoyed a guided tour of the Library which concluded in the beautiful, brand-new Friends of the Library Bookstore. We are so grateful for the time Ms. Sauvageau and Library employees spent organizing this event, thank you for thinking of Breakthrough SJC for this World Book Night opportunity.
Be sure and mark your calendars for the Bookstore’s Grand Opening on June 1, 2014!
