Breakthrough San Juan Capistrano is currently seeking middle school students to join the Breakthrough SJC family.

After presenting at Marco Forster Middle School and Kinoshita Elementary School in San Juan Capistrano, Breakthrough SJC has kicked off its student recruitment season for 2014.  While Breakthrough SJC is predominantly searching for 25 sixth graders to join the program this summer, all students interested in joining Breakthrough SJC should apply.

Breakthrough SJC is a tuition-free program providing academic enrichment opportunities and support for highly motivated, underserved middle and high school students from San Juan Capistrano so that they can realize their potential to excel in high school and graduate from college. Breakthrough SJC recruits highly motivated students from Marco Forster Middle School who can commit to the six-year program.

The selective Breakthrough SJC application process is designed to give middle school students a small glimpse of what it would be like to apply to college.  The application includes two teacher recommendations, a parent questionnaire and a student essay.  After initial applications are submitted, grades are reviewed and students are interviewed by Breakthrough SJC staff and Breakthrough high school students.

Applications for Breakthrough SJC are due Friday, February 21 by 5 p.m. to either the Marco Forster Middle School Office or the Breakthrough Office at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School.
