Breakthrough Collaborative, our national affiliate, has awarded Breakthrough San Juan Capistrano with the 2014 Innovation Grant. This Grant was awarded to only four of the thirty-three Breakthrough sites across the nation who exhibit success in developing and advancing innovative practices in the classroom and improving student achievement.
This $5,000 grant will directly impact Breakthrough San Juan students in three main ways. A portion of the money will be used to create a scholarship fund for one Breakthrough SJC student to attend UC Irvine’s Summer School Program. A second portion of the grant money allows us to hire a specialized College Skills 9th grade teacher this summer and finally, the Innovation Grant will set the foundation for a “students mentoring students” program among our high school and middle school students.
